Status update...

I forgot to post my progress from last holiday weekend.  I started on backings...but then switched to the quilt I needed to get done...and then late Monday, needed to get one more backing done.

So, on Wednesday, I dropped off 4 quilts to be quilted!!! YEAH!!!

Two are for gifts, one is a top I pieced a few years ago...and the 4th was similar to one I made as a gift so I figured it could be quilted the same. I should have them back early August at the latest...which is awesome. I love to bind and that part will go very quick. I hope to get the rest of the backings and battings done in the next week or two so that I can pick up completed quilts...and drop off more!

The one baby quilt I made I showed to the future Grandpa and it met with approval so I'm very glad about that!

Works in Progress

I pulled out all of the tops I have made and made a list of them. There's almost an even dozen. On this holiday weekend, my goal is to have backs and battings made for most or all of them and then take them to the quilter...except for one little quilt and a table runner. I also have 4 or so table runners. All of these I plan to quilt myself...either with some straight lines or some free motion. I've been practicing a little bit and need to spend more time...

I've also got a couple of quilts to piece...one a baby quilt I want to get complete before September.

I've been bad at blogging over the past 6 months or so, and I hope to do a lot of work and posting from this point forward.

I'm also piecing a pickle dish quilt that is a hard pattern to piece. It's nice to have something a little more challenging...except when stressed out and then I've been finishing very small projects!

The quilt tops came out as I need to reorganize my space too...lots of work to do so I better get to it!

So cool...

Have you heard of Sweetwater? they are here:
http://sweetwater.typepad.com/makelifesweet/
and they make labels and fabrics and patterns and all kinds of great things. Well, they announced earlier this week a new fabric line and I need to get me some... A year ago, they asked for you to comment and leave addresses. Yep, I submitted my current address and a couple of others - including my childhood home address. Well, I can find my current street name on the samples on their website! I'll have to get the fabric now!!!

Cindy Lou Who

Top finished! I love it! I wasn't sure what I wanted to do... I had put some 9-patches around the outside, but that was just not right. So I went with the initial thought of a small green border and a wider red print border. I love the way it turned out.... and here it is.

It's 47.5 square so that should be a good size!

I made some wide mouth zippered bags too that turned out great. I used them last weekend and want to make some more by the end of the month. They are really cool the way they nest within each other.

That's about it - progress has been slow here.

Fall Quilt Progress...

I didn't mean to not post for a month (or more). I've been really busy. sewing. quilting. honestly!

Here's what I've been working on...

Halloween Runner - this one is for my youngest sister. She sent me a picture of a quilt that she liked and then she sent me some dimensions. I had to keep putting it aside as other more important things came up. I finally finished it last week to mail it...to the wrong address. It's on it's way back to me now...sigh. lesson learned. I thought about confirming her address and didn't...I will from now on. Here's the runner...

I did the quilting myself and I love love love it!! Hopefully I can still get it to my sister to use this year... sigh.

The other quilt I've been working on is Cindy Lou Who from the book "Another Bit of Schnibbles" by Carrie Nelson. Here's the first layout:
I didn't like it. I decided to replace 4 squares. My friend thought I was crazy as they are 4 squares in the middle of the top. Here's the new top with the replacement blocks:
I had just pinned them in place. LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I ripped it apart and put the new blocks in place. Now I'm trying to decide if I'm putting the black and white squares in for the border...

The quilt I was helping with this is for a friend. Her daughters choir is putting on a concert and the quilt will be a raffle that only military (current and retired) will get free tickets into. The winner gets the quilt. Here's the top:
We finished the quilt Thursday night. As soon as I get the picture, I'll post. The creativity of the choir kids in this quilt is phenomenal! Such heartfelt messages!!
So, it's been busy - although nothing quite done yet.

Big Green Star, Pink-Purple Hearts, and Autumn Pineapple Quilts

I finished 3 quilts this past week/weekend. They are all smaller table topper size for my round table at work. Here they are: Big Green Star, Pink-Purple Hearts, and Autumn Pineapple.

Big Green Star:

Here's the top:

Here's the back which is pretty plain:

The quilting shows up nicely, don't you think?

Pink-Purple Hearts
Here's the top:
Here's the back:
It's the same pattern as the green star quilt - and fits both pretty well.

Autumn Pineapple

I made one of these previously with applique leaves and acorns. This one was made using foundation piecing on preprinted foundations. Here's the top:
Here's the back:
This one was quilted with some great feathers. Here's a close up of the quilting:
Very nice, huh?

Picasa!

I've worked with a lot of different photo sites. Sometime, I did Picasa...and now, it just may help me with my photo problem...and woo hoo - it did! so, in random order...here's what I've been working on over the past couple of posts.

Hexies quilt based on patterns from Sizzling Sixties by Heather Mulder Peterson

Cindy Lou Who pattern from Carrie Nelson's Another Bite of Schnibbles in Countdown to Christmas fabric from Sweetwater (I LOVE THEIR STUFF!!)

My four red/white/blue (ok turquoise) Granny Squares blocks. I hope to make more...but then again, what a cute runner this would make, huh???!!

Black and white nine patch... the rows are sewn and need to be ironed and then the rows joined. Cute, huh?

Ohio stars - from who knows how long ago! I had them in a baggy and have been trying to use up my stash. For some reason this weekend, I just thought I'd put them together with a little border and finish it off.

String Hearts. I forgot to include this in the previous posts. I had the blocks done for awhile but didn't like it just like that and wasn't sure what to do. I thought of the black and white print checkerboard border. Loving it!!

String webs. I couldn't remember if I posted this so as long as I was working on everything else, I'm posting this too. This and two more are going to the LAQ tomorrow...

Oregon Ducks Disappearing 9-patch... I bought the fabrics to make a mug rug for Christmas but wasn't sure what kind of pattern I should use. So I bought three different fabrics, 1 yard each. I made this for the same guy I work with for his table at work...or...whatever he wants. This one goes to the LAQ tomorrow also and I hope to talk her into getting this one done in the next month or so...

Peace on Earth is the fabric line and name of the quilt. I love this one. I wasn't sure of the background, but I do love it! This is the third one going to the LAQ tomorrow.

and that's it! PHEW! I love that I can get these loaded up!! Maybe I'll reset everything I changed on my internet settings and just use Picasa for uploading photos...
